Send me your Janoct stories and I’ll post them here. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Janoct was one in a long-line of common man politicians in Sioux Falls. He never had a chance in his bid for mayor in 2010 and I suspect he knew that. But that never stopped him from speaking for the working class and pressing forward.
He was a sincere man.
I often ran into Janoct in the coffee shops we both frequented - Black Sheep and M.B. Haskett - and he always took the opportunity to feed me story ideas.
Janoct talked to everybody. There were times when it seemed that life was just one long conversation to him, just bouncing from person to person as they passed in and out of his sphere.
There will be a story in tomorrow’s print edition and I’m hoping to write a column for Wednesday’s paper.
In the grand scheme it may seem that’s more ink than his accomplishments in life would warrant, but he was an original and interesting cat and I will miss him.
